MAKING IT! IS A HIGH TECH DISCOVERY CENTRE FULL OF EXCITING AND FUN THINGS TO SEE, DO AND MAKE FOR ALL AGES.
Be amazed at how inventions happens – how they succeed or fail – design your own fizzy drink – produce designs using light-box drawing techniques and explore 3D Computer Aided Design – explore different materials and test them to destruction – try to run an assembly line and put your head into a virtual factory making newspapers, cans and bottles – pits your wits against the “bottle filling challenge” – puzzle out the mysteries of bar codes – and star on the front page of a newspaper, print a copy to take home.
You can choose from one of thirteen kits listed below – Yes you actually design and build a model product of your own, test and package it and then take it home! What will you choose – Space Rocket, Mini Torch, Boat, Clock, Jitterbug, High Speed Flyer, Ball Launcher, Speed Machine, Motorised Dragster, Plane Launcher, Fairground Carousel, Torch Plus and Lighthouse – whatever you choose you will have great fun building your kit.
Making it! will stimulate, educate, entertain and amaze you, whether you are six or sixty six.
We supply everything you need (it’s included in the admission price) you will receive a basket of components to construct your chosen kit – you only pay for batteries to make your model work (20p each).
But that’s not all –there’s a “child friendly” shop and “family friendly” cafe serving home made hot and cold snacks and meals. Inside room for picnics as well as a patio area to eat packed lunches when the weather is favourable. Plenty of nearby parking and bus/train stations within a 5-10 minute walk. Tichfield Park is 5 minutes walk away to give the children space to run around to get rid of that excess energy before the journey home.
